Advice for Crestfall devs !

Hello, as you probably heard, the idiots at Elysium-Nostalrius decided to artificially inflate their old dead server and did a totally retarded move, aka announcing they will release the fresh server alot later than the old server. They said around 3-4 weeks, which basically means their new server will be released at earliest around holidays. Obviously the community is extremely upset, they are bombarding their discord server and reddit with a ton of angry voices. This is a special moment, if you ask me, because I understand that you guys are in beta or something, but in your place I would rush as much as possible and release Crestfall (even if with some bugs) before they release their fresh new server. This way you could get in front guaranteed, even if you would have some minor bugs, it's a huge momentum because community is angry at them and would jump ship in a second.

Think at it, it's really a gold opportunity which matters more than a few bugs here and there that will anyway be fixed. You could even make an announcement like "we care more about the community so we decided to release, since the other guys play dirty and go "You think you do but you don't." Think at it, please.

Dumb idea, honestly.  Why launch something that hasn't even gone through a beta yet?  To get initial numbers and a bad reputation?

Well, I thought their server is decent by now, no ? Not just something with 4 trillion bugs, since they work at it from several years. Anyway, their call, the opportunity is golden really. Whoever release first, gets the whole cake.

Would love staff to comment "No." and lock this thread. The point of crestfall is to build the best WoW private servers out there. They will not be rushed. Crestfall does not want a 15k population realm—the people angry at elysium/Nost would be just as angry if Crestfall launched and instantly was full to capacity with 2hr queues.

Crestfall doesn't need to be influenced in its decisions by Nostrils. It existed years before that.

Crestfall still has closed beta (app early December, launch late December) and open beta coming before release.

It will go live "when it's ready".

Vanilla doesn't need another trash server trying to capitalize on a fickle crowd that jumps servers at the first change in the wind.

That stuff played out already with PlayTBC and Elysium v1.

First of all, we appreciate all kind of suggestions from our community and take each of them seriously.

1. We continue as planned, it doesn't matter what other servers do or will do. Crestfall is since more than 4 years in development and many servers appeared and disappeared in the meanwhile. We received a lot of new registrations after the recent Nost announcements and generally like the media attention in relation to private servers.

2. The realm is currently not meeting our own high expectations, we aim to set new technical standards in the private server scene and are on a good way to do so. Also our future beta testers will have influence on the release date, they have to verify that our gameplay is smooth and authentic.

3. We don't mind a big population and will open further realms if there will be bigger queues. The realm limit of the PvP realm will be set to 6k and our "Release hardware setup" will be able to handle at least 10k players with ease, the hardware can be extended within hours due to clustering.

Closed.
