Darkrasp's Update 11/14/2016

32 posts in this topic

if you still play retail, maybe the proc rates are unchanged from vanilla unless otherwise is said in patch notes, theres alot to look through for every one of those items though

Malown's Slam:

wowhead comments

"Prob one of the best 2hand maces pre-bc before moltencore.

I had this baby very early on my warrior and this procc was just totally insane.
With mace spec i could easily stun rank13 geared players to death. The proccrate on this was just insane, around 50% ( For me )" -2.4.3

"At 80, when dual wielding with Titan's Grip, it didn't proc very much at all. There is probably a 45 sec internal CD, or the proc rate is just reduced at 80. Two of them don't seem to share a CD because I got two procs one right after another." -7/26/2009

"Does this weapon still proc a lot when you are around its level? I see on its effect page it says "Apply Aura: Stun" and "Value:1". Does that mean its a 1% proc rate or is that some unrelated number?" -12/03/2010

"I played wow since day 1 basicly, and when i obtained this weapon i almost reached rank14 with this weapon.

This was by far the best weapon ingame proccwise, i knocked people silly for an entire duel.

I remember killing a aq40 s-priest(who was a very good pvper) in my valor gear with this weapon.

This weapon was removed(i think) cuess of the proc, i cant seen to find the postmaster anymore." -04/06/2010

thottbott comments

"I got one of these on my 71 DK today while running a friend in Strath. I did a bit of testing and I can see no internal cooldown on the proc as the proc often occured twice in a row." -2009/08/01

"No, it still procs plenty. Got it today and tested it a little in Eastern Plaguelands (with a level 45 warrior), and it procced about every other to every third fight, I'd say. Very cool weapon, just because it can knock folks silly. ;)" -2011/09/10

allakhazam comments

"Picture of me with the mace (no enchant on it so you can see it better).

Still usefull at lvl60. Have been using it for quite some time now and the proc is a bit funny.
Sometimes it procs 2 to 3 times every fight for up til 10 fights in a row.
Sometimes it procs once every two to three fights (same level range of mobs in both scenarios).

All and all, this bad boy delivers most of the time and I really like it.

Edited, Fri Jul 22 14:33:29 2005"

"wierd i heard the proc rate was pretty frequent on this thing. or atleast much better  than the hammer of the titans." -jun 5th 2005

"Realy good maximum damage ,but chance of proc is 1% or less.Blizzard must to corect it.This weapon must be proc like a Desteny

Edited, Thu Jun  2 12:15:28 2005"

im guessing the proc rate was higher in vanilla; im guessing 10% in vanilla and 5% in TBC or wrath

couldn't find anything for hurd smasher's proc rate, maybe someone else could test it on retail since I don't play retail

Thanks for the update. As usual, I'm sure the community will take up your gauntlet with a certain relish.

People should grab a few items at a time and then post which ones they are working on so we don't replicate each others work.

Happy hunting.

i read that malown's slam and hurd smasher have a high proc rate on wowhead comments

though really im gonna assume that malown's slam procs at least enough to reliably proc once every 30 seconds

also if you still play retail, maybe the proc rates are unchanged from vanilla unless otherwise is said in patch notes, theres alot to look through

Don't take this as critique, I'm just using your post as a spring-board to talk about how to make this useful ;)

What Darkrasp would want is a specific number or range (the smaller variance the better) along with source.

For example: Hammer of Pwnage: 3% PPH (proc per hit) or 25% PPC (proc per crit) or 2 PPM (procs per minute) Source: wowwiki, thottbot comment from 2006, spreadsheet / whatever.

In other words for anyone trying to help:

Be specific (numbers). Percentage and mechanic at the least (is it chance on hit, is it chance on crit, is it time based, does it have an internal cooldown)

Also don't try to take on too many, if we can get 1-2 people on each item the cross-reference will help, pick one that interests you based on your favorite class / role etc and give it a try.

in progress...

17752    Satyr's Lash    18205
17766    Princess Theradras' Scepter    21961
17943    Fist of Stone    21951
18410    Sprinter's Sword    22863
18671    Baron Charr's Sceptre    13442
19323    The Unstoppable Force    7598    23454
19324    The Lobotomizer    24388
19874    Halberd of Smiting 25669
19901    Zulian Slicer    24251    9141
20578    Emerald Dragonfang    24993

Well... Since Devair posted THIS... There's nothing to do anymore.
Btw. I've spent about 6 hours looking for any reliable information about those items (I've been searching for archive allakhazam/thottbot, old versions of wowwiki registry or just googling about 'em) and I found nothing. Funny thing - there's a lot comments below those items about "what's the proc chance".

Score: Decent
It doesn't proc very often. But it's a nice surprise when it does.

the spell it does has a 8 second cooldown as well, this being a contender for a nice tanking weapon i wouldnt make the chance all too high and so not making it OP for tanks

Are there any patterns that emerge from the known proc rates? As in, can you get an idea of standard value sets used for each type of variable? Or does it seem like they literally made a unique formula for each proc item?

if you have videos showing some of the items (with combat logs or combat texts) you can use them as other data.

count how many times it procs, mark down the start-end time, and calculate the average you see within the timeframe. (like an average of a proc every 15seconds for 4minutes would make it 4ppm).

Eh I've been searching for a while on a few items. Can't seem to find any posts or comments with any kind of % for procs.

The search continues.

Yeah, they aren't easy to find.  I did a cursory search of Wowhead and one Allakhazam page per item, I got ~150 items and rough estimates of a handful more, I updated the initial thread to add those estimated values.  I don't expect people to be able to find too much data, but the more we can get reasonable numbers for, the more data points I can use to interpolate the missing values.

There are some patterns, yeah.  Most weapons seem to be sitting at a percent chance between 6-8%, and if you calculate that into a proc-per-minute value, it's about 1.5 on average.  Some weapons are unique and very different than that, more powerful procs will drop down to the ~3% range, and some are 20% or more, though these are very uncommon.  Given enough confirmed data for similar weapons, I will be able to do a little math with expected dps, proc damage. and weapon speed, and figure out the values for the other weapons.  It will just be some slow and tedious work, so the more we can find, the better.

When you post these, can you provide the relevant links as well?  That's what I meant by providing a source.  Just copy the full URL if you can.  I have to verify these somehow.  Thanks.

edit:  not for just comments, but anything with a number on it.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but another private server isn't really a valid source of data, atleast I don't think it is, Darkrasp can have the final say. On top of that, there's also the fact Truewow's DB is for Wrath.

As I've said, currently using Axe of the Deep Woods. I pretty much like it. That nature proc seems to happen every 2-3 hits, so quite often

To the people that say this is a bad epic...
it isnt. I had it for a while, and the proc rate was simply outstanding. The extra burst of damage and its dps make it a very worthwhile item to have. If you have a good stat other item, then the dps you get is by standards of the level, great.

Given all appreciation i saw, proc rate should be around 15%.

I've had this sword on my paladin since level 36 along with Wall of the Dead (//www.wowhead.com/?item=1979).

1) It procs quite regularly, often five times in fight, but does not stack.

Marvili le 2008-05-24 (Mise à jour 2.4.2)

This item has gained substantial value in my opinion as its proc is excellent and its speed, while not ideal, is certainly fast enough to be quite a valuable off-hand for rogues, especially sword specced rogues. The dps is excellent for its level, and the proc should be very useful when fighting other rogues or druids.
