retribution paladin pve

39 posts in this topic

Hello guys.

First off, Sorry for my english.

So, I have a question to ask you guys. I want to play a ret paladin but iknow it´s very hard to find a guild that lets me play that spec. What to you guys think i can do to play it ?

is there  any guild that accepts hybrid spec here ?

I think it depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. If you want to be a hardcore raider and a paladin, you have to be a healer and wear cloth. If you don't care about being in a guild that has the raids on farm status, you probably have more options. I personally wouldn't care if you wanted to be a ret pally in a raid or group as long as you know how to play the class. There isn't a "meta space" for ret paladins in vanilla raiding, so it's just a matter of finding a guild of people who just want to have fun playing the game.

yeah i think for casual guilds that will be ok. not for "better" guilds who clear stuff more fast.

Those videos are heavily biased.

Ret pally has hardly a place in BWL and harder raids. It's a spec tuned for pvp, and shines at that.

Some facts:
Elysium paladins are doing about 15-20% more damage than palys on kronos/fenix (so everything depends how it will be scripted on CF)
In early game (by early game I mean 8 slot debuff counter) You won't have your seal of crusader avaible on any raid boss.
Ppl are going to hate you (just because you play ret pally), you also gonna have problems to join 5/10-man end game dungeons.
Loot: you are pressing "need" on warrior's loot - guess who hates you even more.
Loot2: you are pressing "need" on hunter's loot - but who cares about hunters.
Ret pala is super expensive (not because of items, but because of consumeables - you need a lot of consumeables to shine in dpsmeter)
Ret pala is more consistent in later expansions. Actually in TBC at least on ret pala per ride is awesome.
My personal opinion: playing ret pala is like leveling warrior (in vanilla), kinda suicide gaming.

So the dmg shows me either devs on one server got it totaly wrong or both. Nothing good about it. And my guess is Kronos closer to "normal" retri dps. I wan't blizzlike not buffed classes because devs don't know or testers (read theloras and duki) both persons who rather see there class op than correctly tuned.

U think Theloras and Duki bring false information to see paladin class op?

Even serious guilds may let you raid ret for farm nights.. Your not going to be allowed on progression nights I would think. Just don't bring enough to the table.

I don't know who Theloras is, but Duki does, either intentionally, or due to his own delusions

With players like yourself providing "feedback", this project will be complete garbage.

I somehow doubt Asura and the rest build their project based on random forum posts.

Idk and idc who's actually in the right here btw. Just tone down the vitriol plz, we have standards here.

Need I remind you that this is the server where the lead devs thought that Holy Resistance should exist...

This is the project where the devs trust spell mechanics stored in the client DBC files before "a CM told me during WoD something about classic that can be interpreted both ways" and "a bunch of wowwiki edits".

Being that their main goal is to reproduce vanilla mechanics to the best of their ability they're always ready to amend their stance (that's the scientific way) when proper sources are presented (in the form of video from classic, patch notes, combatlogs etc for 1.12 or the last patch the mechanic was unchanged).

They did the absolutely right thing by insisting that proper evidence is presented and it was by one of the project testers (Cornholi). To code a server-side override for mechanics coded in the client DBC you better be 100% sure it is warranted.

You know what they say "even a broken clock is right twice a day". Duki can be credited for persisting enough that someone who knows how to do research bothered to help clear up the matter instead of muddying it further.

You should be filled with confidence for the project when they don't let their ego get in the way of proper emulation.

PS. In response to your "suck it bitches" all I have to say is welcome to the boards, "resistance is futile".

lol patch notes eh?

We said the following FOR MONTHS and got ridiculed for it:

"Holy resistance does not currently exist as a visible or collectible statistic in World of Warcraft. The sole means to prevent holy damage are limited to effects that affect all spells, like reduction (e.g. potions) and immunity (e.g. Divine Intervention). However Holy Resistance did exist during the World of Warcraft beta in patch 0.7."
http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Holy_resistance

Holy Resistance has been replaced with Arcane Resistance
http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Patch_0.9

Chromatic Gauntlets no longer has a listed Holy Resistance bonus, since there is no actual Holy Resistance.

PS @Darkrasp never apologized to @Killerduki btw - if anyone had an ego it was Darkrasp who refused to accept evidence after evidence that Holy Resistance didn't exist along with all of the other haters/trolls who went after Duki and I...

cough Imbaslap cough

From the community point of view after all, that's what I represent, the issue is relatively simple. We side with the idea that opinions should be based on the facts, and as the saying goes, when the facts change people have the right to change their minds. That's not an ego thing, that's being practical, correct, and what you would expect from a project concentrating on replicating a (comparatively) very old video game with bad mechanics and dodgy reference points.

What we don't side with are people who have a very limited agenda and spend all their time on a holy crusade to get their points across, whether their points are correct or not. I frequent other forums and it's clear that the religious zeal has backfired on a number of occasions because people are sick to death of it. By all means make your case, but moderate your communication methods and develop a sense of pragmatism.

It works wonders

It wasn't that obvious to me before, but having spent months on the CF forum, I realised just how childish and immature you sound in your posts (read - shitposts). It's like Outstanding said, it's not even about being right or wrong sometimes, it's about talking on the forums without sounding like an angry 12 year old who is trying to make everyone agree with him or her (okay he did not say it EXACTLY like that, but I think that's basically the point).

What I'm trying to say is, I've gotten used to classy, mature posts and posters, and you don't seem like one. I've already heard you say that you will not be playing on CF, so why even bother posting here in the first place? If anyone is interested in reading about your opinions on Ret Paladins, they can do so in dozens of topics on Nost forum that you and Duki hijacked over the months.

Poster mentioned how your source of information is wowwiki and you decide to back it up with wowwiki links. Good job.

The beta patches do mention that holy resistance was removed, but it still exists in the 1.12.1 DBC and that's what we investigated. I don't see what you are trying to prove in this post.

The point I'm trying to prove is that you guys were too stupid to realize how idiotic your "Holy Resistance exists" theorycrafting was from the start. I'm not even a coder but I knew you guys were all completely out to lunch for even having the nerve to preach it.

But apparently I am a liar who pulls shit out of my ass in order to "Lead a Holy Crusade" in order to unnecesarily buff my class/spec by claiming false information or re-writing wiki pages to suit my own evil mastermind needs...

PS Blizzard removed the beta and vanilla patch notes from their website:

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/game/patch-notes/

PPS @Darkrasp - still waiting for your apology to @Killerduki bro...
