It's good to read these and see that Crestfall is still on the same path as before by fixing certain things other servers have never done, like the drop rate, even I remember farming forever for that prestine yeti hide in Winterspring but I've always got it really quickly on other servers! Even with the Elysium change. I'm still looking forward to Crestfall!

oh boy, questing will be be fun .. O.o great change, it always felt weird when leveling on other private servers and you followed a leveling guide where it said getting x quest item would probably take a long time and you get it on the first kill :ph34r:

thank you for the update!

 

btw for the droprates that have no percentual exact proof:

I would recommend not adjusting the rates to drow too low (like those comments on the old thottbot and so on).

The reason for this is because

1) people tend to exaggerate those times

2) people didn't know how to kill/farm/use abilities properly

Ahh the Sinew, I remember that one. It's one of those quests where after 1+ hour you want to quit and do something else but you don't since you already spent a hour there.

I've noticed drop rates tend to be too high on most Vanilla servers, and I don't like it. I remember many long hours of collecting quest items in retail Vanilla, and I loved every second of it. The whole point of Vanilla for me is that it's something to be savored. Thank you for trying to get these drop rates correct. :D

Sounds like a lot has been done, considering the lack of time you guys must have had. I like reading the progress reports, always surprises me how the code and formulas work... but definitely waaaay out of my ballpark :P

A prime example is Farren's proof in Southshore. I remember doing this quest in 2006 and the droprate was AWFUL! Took me about an hour to do this quest. Even the other comments. However, on Nost and Elysium the droprate is set to 80%...

Did the split bone necklace q on Elysium yesterday. Took me only 150-200 Troll´s and a few hours of my day :)

 

However the sinew dropped from the 1. monkey i killed. xD

Mint report, mate!

Would have preferred details about your hiking trip as I am a nature lover myself. I stick with what I got. Continue on the path. Will buy a PC when Crestfall launches just to play on your SV and you lads won't disappoint as you catch all the details.

You have to consider though, that with a much higher pop cap than retail vanilla there will be more people doing the same quests at the same time which might lead to some frustration if you have to wait 2 minutes between each mob and then have 2% drop rate and needing 10 items or something

I'm sure they are aware of this being an issue. I think dynamic spawn rates, or just simply increased global spawn rates for initial launch rush. Either should do the trick.

As long as increased spawn rates are announced before the server opens, i'm fine with that. Then back to normal the next day or two. Old Elysium changed it 3hours in and it was quite annoying for me personally.
