Do you support PvP flagging for World Bosses?

Do you support PvP flagging for World Bosses?   54 members have voted

  1. 1. How would you like to see world bosses handled on the PvE server?

    • No flagging of any kind.
    • Flag everyone in the World Boss subzone as soon as they enter it.
    • Flag anyone who attacks the boss.
    • Flag anyone who targets the boss.

Flagging of any kind won't prevent same-faction griefing, therefore it's ineffective and it's also against the idea of a PvE server...so I can't see any solution besides reporting any issues when they happen.

It would prevent cross-faction griefing, and that is a big deal. It is also not against the idea of a PvE server, you already have PvP in STV and DM, we are just suggesting adding some more for the sake of adding an element of fun and competition into world boss fights, which other wise are really boring on PvE servers.

I'm guessing that the perspective here is to leave things as they are and assume the community will take care of itself.

On PvE servers reputation (good and bad) speaks for itself. If this was a 12-24 month project it wouldn't add up to a whole hill of beans but with PTE I guess people will be a little bit more considerate based on the long term perspective. I just Hope Zul'Dare is as mature as we think it will be

I have no doubt the community will be able to take care of same faction griefing, because guilds generally wants to have a good reputation among their own faction. However this does not apply to cross-faction griefing in my experience and I have no doubt that cross faction griefing will be as much of a fun killer on this server as on Nost PvE.

World bosses are an incredible smal part of the game and adding PvP to these fights would make them a lot more fun instead of just pointless "first to tag-" / "who ever bothers spending the most time griefing the other team-", fights.

In addition, adding these zones or force PvP for combating the world bosses would not affect the average player what so ever.

But it 'would' prevent cross faction griefing. Thats the point. Why have two griefing issues instead of just one?

The point of world bosses was based around how WPvP worked in vanilla so it wouldn't be a BAD decision; however, I know a portion of people on PvE servers don't want to deal with any type of flagging keeping their free choice of when to PvP.

I, for one, would LOVE to have the subzone PvP enabled. I don't think it would create too big of an inconvenience for people, but this is obviously all opinion. Everyone has their preferences.

A change that includes flagging at a world boss could be presented in such a way to make it clear that world boss encounters are being designated as PvP activity. So you have the free choice still to PvP when and if you want. You could say, choosing to encounter a world boss is choosing to enter a PvP environment/mode.

On a different note, I wonder if there would be any room to approach the same problem from another direction. Are there any changes/modifications that could be made to the world boss behavior/scripting that could avoid some of these issues without breaking the game in new ways?
