pfUI - An ElvUI inspired UI for 1.12 completely written from scratch

Hey Shagu! I have reinstalled WoW and all my previous addons to recommence playing on Elysium.

Everything appears to be set up and working correctly. I am still loving pfUI. One thing I did want to check with you, though.

When I previously had pfUI installed along with DebuffTimers, the countdown was correctly being displayed on enemy unit frames. After installing the game and all my addons again, the countdown timer is no longer being displayed within the debuffs on my target unit frame. Debuffs like Serpent Sting and Hunter's Mark.

I have trawled through the pfUI settings as I very vaguely remembered that there was a setting in pfUI that needed to be switched off in order to actually prompt DebuffTimers to work correctly but, for the life of me, I can not find it this time around.

I am really hoping you can shed some light on how to get the DebuffTimers addon working correctly with this version of pfUI.

Thanks so much, mate! Hope you are well :D

EDIT: So after some more testing I have managed to get Debuff Timers to work. However, now there are 2 countdowns ticking down for each debuff.

So I thought. Well, if there are 2 countdowns with Debuff Timers addon activated, there should only be 1 countdown when Debuff Timers is de-activated. Nope, no countdown at all with Debuff Timers de-activated.

I hope this helps to narrow the potential issue down, Shagu!

Don't know what's causing this but if you open debufftimers settings and lower the size settings you will get rid of the duplicate numbers.

Hi, Shagu!

Is there a setting in pfUI that displays a countdown timer for buffs on Unit Frames? I use DebuffTimers for the countdown timer for Debuffs but Buffs also do not display a countdown timer.

Any insight would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers, bud!

Sorry for the late response :/

The issue regarding DebuffTimers has already been adressed on 1st of March, but the author doesn't seem to care much about his addons: https://github.com/Voidmenull/DebuffTimers/pull/13
In the meantime, you could use my fork instead which has this fixed: https://github.com/shagu/DebuffTimers

Target-Buff-Timers are not planned so far. If you see some random players in town, you usually can't know when he got his buffs, so it's quite hard to calculate the remaining time.

How would I go about adding 'Shift+Right-click' and 'Ctrl+Right-click' options as potential clickcast spells? I poked around in the unitframes.lua and gui.lua a bit, but I'm not super familiar with code, so I was hoping you could help

I tried adding this into unitframes.lua

if button == "RightButton" and if IsShiftKeyDown() then
	if pfUI_config.unitframes.clickcast_shiftright ~= "" then
		CastSpellByName(pfUI_config.unitframes.clickcast_shiftright)
	end
end

and this into gui.lua

CreateConfig(this, T["Shift+Right-Click Action"], C.unitframes, "clickcast_shiftright", nil, nil, nil, nil, "STRING")

Are you using a pfUI compatible Clique? https://github.com/shagu/Clique

I don't remember off-hand if it supports modifier-combos but I would guess it does.

Install it, enable the integration in third-party options in pfUI then go to Group Frames (or similar name, I'm not looking at it in-game) to assign spells to mouse clicks.

Thank you so much! I wasn't aware there was a compatible version of Clique.

I have one other question that you may be able to help me with. Currently, when there is an incoming heal on any unit frame, it shows the amount that is going to be healed in green and also shows how much will be overhealed. Is there a way to disable the overheal and only show the incoming heal up to 100% of the persons health? To clarify, I'd like to keep what arrow #1 is pointing to, and remove what arrow #2 is pointing to.

Is there a way to only have the nameplates ? That's the only thing I'm looking for.

If not, maybe some of you know decent nameplates showing debuffs & casting bar on the nameplates ?

Cheers

Hi Shagu. I do not know if you even check this forum anymore but I thought it was, at least, worth a try.

You may have seen that Blizzard have announced official 'Warcraft Classic' at Blizzcon overnight..!

What I would like to know is, in your expert opinion, do you think that your pfUI is going to work with the official version of the Warcraft Classic server(s)?

If so, do you also think that other addons developed for the Vanilla Core version of WoW will also work with the official version of the Warcraft Classic server(s)?

I hope you are going well bud and I look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Syn

Hi Syn,

to be honest, I have no idea what gameclient they will use for their classic realm. The old 1.12.(1-3) we have has alot of issues in terms of stability, security and the lack of multi-threading. I doubt that they will re-use that client without changes. But doing changes to that would also result in addon incompatibility (like introducing secure functions). So in the end, I can't tell what they're going to do. I really hope they will leave the client as is, but my guess is, that they will patch it and break some addons.

In case they patch it, I'll be probably out of the addon-scene for the following reasons:

* I'm not motivated to read and migrate all of my addons to every patch they release over and over again

* I won't be able to easily test code on my local realm with bots (quests, castbars, unitframe stuff)

* I haven't played the games for years as I "only" logged in to do addons. And I'm not going to pay a monthly fee to get the permission to log in and write code.

Cheers,

Shagu

dont you think they are paying attention to addon compatibility? I mean the cry of the community would be huge if not a single addon would work anymore.

To me, pfUI has been perfect, and I'll be sad to abandon it in classic if the game client is drastically changed like you speculate. However, I completely empathize with the choice to not completely redo everything, and I just wanted to say thank you for making my pserver experience a million times more enjoyable!

I'd prefer that tbh. WoW didn't launch with hundreds of addons that play the game for you afaik and there shouldn't be any available for Classic on launch either imo. I understand that a lot of work has gone into addons over the years and I appreciate all the effort but I'd prefer if AH scanning addons, quest/raid helpers, decursive etc weren't available (even if they were at some point later in vanilla, I wouldn't know). The ones like pfUI are another story ofc but I would imagine that Blizz will update the UI somewhat for Classic anyway.

The community will cry no matter what they do. :P

decursive

To this day I have no idea what that is.

Quest and recipe addons are the only ones I find useful. And the quest ones only because while I remember 99 % of the common quests, when doing it on more characters at the same time, one tends to get a little confused.

Decursive is a must have for dispelling classes.. :)

One-button addon that dispels all the shit that you want to dispel so you don't have to target individual players in the raid. It was 100% braindead ofc, but there wasn't really a more effective way to do it manually, so it was widely used as long as it worked. Good for fights like Chromaggus or Lucifron where you need to dispel the whole goddamn raid. You could configure it to have a priority order and stuff, and you never lost a gcd. IMO it was a braindead way to deal with a braindead mechanic. I enjoy fights where dispelling fast is important (I was the designated dispeller on Teron Gorefiend and I loved it) but when you literally have to dispel 40 people every 30 seconds you might as well sit there spamming a button rather than pretend to be pro by doing it manually.

It stopped working sometime towards the end of vanilla, if memory serves me. They changed something about the way you could write scripts or some shit. Thankfully Blizzard realised that raid-wide dispellable debuffs were just tedious and not challenging, and as far as I know, no fights worked like that in TBC or beyond.
