1.12.1 AddOns - The Compilation List

67 posts in this topic

Hello Crestfallen!

Because we all know there'll be a demand of AddOns, I'll be writing and updating a compilation of AddOns here. Posts for future expansions are also going to happen.

Do you have suggestions of useful AddOns? Do you have an actual compilation? Anything goes and I'll be maintaining this. Also, if you feel some AddOn shouldn't be on this list, or is outdated, let me know and I'll update it.

As always, discussions are something I'd want to hear regarding addons. What should we have listed here and what not. I'll be categorizing and sorting by name so the list will look neater.

If an AddOn is not listed and you wish to find one, you can google with:

<addon name> wow vanilla 1.12.1

and you're likely to find something useful. Curse and Curseforge are good websites to find AddOns for older WoW versions.

Note: If the AddOn is offline, please upload it to either MediaFire, Google Drive or Mega.co.nz - Or PM me and I will mirror it from my host.

Well, I use a lot of addons, I play as rogue so I do not have some addons for mages/priest and sincerly I can't remember their name. However I select some addons which can be useful for everyone and not for rogues only, here's few.

Mandatory:

!Questie - it shows quests marks on the map.

dyEg0Nb.jpg

WHDB - WowHead comments on every quest, very useful to know what to expect.

P3632s2.png

Extended Quest Log - Enlarge the quest tab for a better view, if you use WHDB it's basically mandatory.

bl46BwG.png

TitanPanel - Coord, various useful information and shortcuts.

PdWb2bF.jpg

Very useful:

WIM - Whispers are better organized.

wxpc41m.png

EquipCompare - The name explain it.

UGqEie3.png

AuldLangSyne - Notes on Friend List/Ignore list.

QaVASFD.png

XLua - Better Portaits.

0FdV8hT.png

VanillaGuide - It shows an arrow to helps you for directions.

Arcanum for mages.  Aside from boss mods and raid frames, it's the only thing you need.

A better version of that link that explains what each addon does would be awesome.

That is the plan, yes. But I won't go through all of the AddOns. I'm planning to add AddOns which members recommend to be added, and obviously, using my own discretion for that.

What has been suggested, has been added. I plan to add it to the thread soon™.

Greets.

So I like add-ons but I am never happy with end results so always tinkering around.

As I usually play healer I would highly recommend grid + clique

Grid allows a customised unit display of all party members for healing and decursive actions. We combine it with clique to allow key-binding on the mouse. By hovering over the grid so you can instantly cast as many different spells as you have buttons for. It's particularly effective for those "oh shit" moments.

CT Mod is indicated in the posts above but the mail mod is excellent and required allowing multiple item mails to all your toons/friends

Auctioneer/informant is critical if you use the auction house but even simple things like choosing quest rewards based on vendor value becomes a no-brainer

Fishing Buddy if like me you spend a lot of time "fishing" while watching movies etc

Bagnon put all your bag spaces into one big lump and keeps tracks of alt items

etc

Hello, I always like to customize the interface of the game, because I think its too limited. After long time of searching for addons I found some very good time savers and extending a lot of the functionality of the game.

QuickHeal - http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/project-2800/ - Keybind one button and it does automatically pick appropriate spell and rank to heal your target(you if none) based on missing hp. Below 30% it uses max rank fastest spell. Very good when leveling and not in healing spec and even if in healing spec/gear great for mana conservation. In raiding also great for healing out of combat, my experience is that most of the time you have to heal with max rank fastest spell. It won't make you better healer, just help you a little in raids when out of combat and a lot more in dungeons or when farming/leveling. You need BonusScanner addon to get max functionality.

SmartPet - https://github.com/ericraio/vanilla-wow-addons/tree/master/s/SmartPet  - Great addon for all hunter, dunno about locks. Keybind for smart attack - if target is enemy attack, if it is enemy but is cc, follow, if it is friendly assit. Also put your pet in passive when you mount(dunno if it is the addon or the game). Also much more stuff to set pet moods and set some more stuff. I think its must for every hunter.

Also as it was mentioned - Luna Unit Frames - best unit frames addon. Super customizable and shows all info in small and visible format. And you can set mouseover macros or click healing with it without the need to use grid, which i hate alot :)

Initial update. Once I've finished giving links to all AddOns, I'll be cleaning this thread up. Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far, keep it up!

Also as a note, I'd appreciate if you give me links for the AddOns. It saves me a lot of time not having to search for a working version and ensuring it works.

Well since CustomNameplates was posted here I added a README and screenshot showing how CustomNameplates look.

There's some more addons on my GitHub that might be interesting to some.

https://github.com/Road-block?tab=repositories

Hopefully I'll make more (originals or ports from other expansions) when this server goes up.

(I have a couple good ones - I think - almost done)

I've been working on a little side project to make all addons available for everyone with a quick search, etc. It's still in the early stages of development and requires more work to be effective by here's the link.

https://addons.exer.community

I'll be adding the ability for everyone to assign categories, add screenshots and descriptions to each addon. Also allowing addons to be uploaded.

I made an error! Actually I was talking about PetExtend addon - http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/project-1783/

But looks like SmartPet is good too! So check em both is my suggestion :)

This is glorious. I do believe it should be managed more than free uploads due to old LUA exploits. If it's aimed at CrestFall people can abuse that to force the client to send a specific user gold and things like that. Screenshots is fine and comments, but rather not AddOns.

If you're willing to, I can work on compiling the AddOns list with you - and use that as a base for AddOns as it's more reliable than a forum thread.

I could use all the help I can get which is why I was going to open up as much editing (with manual checks) to the community as possible. That way we can have many people updating the website.

That has no answer.

Mods generally work together just fine. There is no big list of incompatible addons.

You could even use 2 of the same kind with no adverse effects for the most part (2 damage meters for example)

Things that "might" not work as well together are mods that could need exclusive or frequent access to the same game resource (maps, bags, actionbars or unitframes)

If you don't have time to test different categories of addons to find aesthetically pleasing and functional combinations, pick an UI compilation where someone else has done the legwork.

Examples of nice all-in-one compilations

- modUI
q85CQb.png
- shaguui
LgAX4j7l.jpg

- xeekUI
PkxBgwJl.jpg

I was under the impression that portrait and frame mods would conflict, since they're altering the same ui elements. And there's a lot of options specifically in that category. But I will fish around then.

They can conflict, but not in a way to crash the client. You can disable the usage of certain elements of a interface, say, player portrait from AddOn1 and use it from AddOn2, but use targeting frame from AddOn1 and disable it from AddOn2 etc.

Apart from the "mandatory" ones like Questie, Titan, MetaMap I also suggest

1.  Shagu nameplates. They seem the best. Neat with dots etc.

2. Necrosis is very good for warlocks especially for
  a. Soul shard management; you pick the bag you want to manage and it deletes any more shards you might gather
  b. Soulshard notification at expiration

3. Dotimers You all know it. The problem is it does not detect resists, misses etc

4. Supermacro, you all know it. It is super useful

5. Mouseover Cast, good for healers. You can use mouseover on frames like Grid. Much better than clique-like addons since you can use any keybind

6. Modified Power Auras, nice auras with some limitations but still useful for tracking things

7. DPSMate, damage meter with nice reports

I found a backported Atlas + loot + quest.
It has a wishlist!!!

https://github.com/Cabro/Atlas

P.S.: Would be someone able to and interested in backporting AckisRecipeList and EveryQuest from TBC to vanilla?

ChatSuey is a great vanilla chat addon.

I've made some small fixes and additions (mostly skinning the editbox) to it during the Nostalrius era but it's perfectly functional as is and has most of the things later expac chat addons had.

ShaguQuest is a pretty good replacement for EveryQuest.

Linky: http://shaguaddons.ericmauser.de/shaguquest/

As for AckisRecipeList the go to combo for vanilla (like Skillet + AckisRecipeList was for later expansions) is AdvancedTradeskillWindow (ATSW) and RecipeRadar.

I might look at some backports when this server goes into open beta or launches, but I generally only bother with it when there's no decent alternative so the option is between "from scratch" or "backport" :P
